Traffic Division

The Office of the District Attorney prosecutes violations of state traffic laws occurring within Lincoln and Union Parishes. This includes tickets issued by:

  • Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office
  • Union Parish Sheriff's Office
  • Various other agencies (for example: Wildlife and Fisheries, DOTD, etc.)
  • Louisiana State Police (issued in Lincoln or Union)

Not all traffic tickets are payable. Some traffic offenses require a mandatory court appearance. Examples of such offenses include Driving under Suspension, Reckless Operation, Careless Operation, Failure to Stop for a School Bus, and any offense where an accident was involved.

If you wish to keep this ticket off your driving record, do not pay the ticket.  Certain speeding citations are eligible for Traffic Pre-Trial Diversion. You will be sent a letter of eligibility, if you qualify.  If you have any questions regarding eligibility, please contact our office in Lincoln or Union Parish.  A defensive driver’s course will be mandatory.

You may select one of the two programs, the Defensive Driving Program or the Traffic Program, as described below.
